21.30 Mal-ander του Paul de Mol
22.30 Blight of humanity του Marian Dora
Η βραδιά θα κλείσει με το Blight of Humanity του Marian Dora.

22.00 Katatsumori της Naomi Kawase
23.00 The Flower from the Sea της Miho Nagaya

22.00 Memoria των Daniele Ciprì και Franco Maresco
Pugnant bids farewell to its beloved month of August with a five-day pilgrimage of screenings, taking place in the outskirts of Lavrio from August 20 to 24!
Each night, in a different magical location (sometimes two), from Vavrona to Althea, we will set up our screens to watch wonderful films. Screenings will start at 20:30 and end at 01:00! We will sleep in situ, and you are invited to join us in this experience.
This event is much more relaxed. It’s not even an event—it’s a pilgrimage. That means everything will be a bit looser. Our screens… the films will be screened with English subtitles. Some films will also be shown from links available online.
Anyone who wishes to present something (music, performance, dance, storytelling) will have time and space within the 24 hours, before or after the screenings (preferably before). Send us a message to coordinate, and we’ll let you know about the unique features of each location.

The screenings will begin with the wonderful Toto Who Lived Twice, an early, vitriolic work from this explosive Sicilian duo—depicting corruption and stupidity in Sicily, which may feel uncomfortably close to home.
Next will be the beautiful A Life I Remember You Leaving by Frida Liappa, a film with strong feminist themes set in an irredeemably Greek context.
We’ll end with I am Keiko by Sion Sono, a fictionalized autobiographical portrait filled with poetry and obsession, here in some of the most melancholic tones of his filmography.

We finish with Blight of Humanity by Marian Dora, a filmmaker famous for provoking emotional nausea, death threats, and unforgettable works through gore, trash, and utterly unpolitical correctness.

The Spyridio Foundation is one of the most impressive and mysterious buildings—perched like a lighthouse on a rock, crumbling outside but baroque inside. Was it a sect? An artistic commune? A reincarnation hub for oxen? No one knows. It offers shade, sea views, and is only 16 km from Vavronas wetland.
DAY THREE – 22/8 DIPSELIZA MINE
Exact location: Google Maps link
(Important: Arrive via 25th Martiou Street; other routes are poor.)
Schedule
20:30 – Woman and the Glacier by Audrius Stonys
21:45 – Short films by Jun Kurosawa
22:55 – Play Dead! by Matthew Lancit
We start with Woman and the Glacier, a meditative, human-centered work filmed in the untouched peaks of Tian Shan.
Then, short films by Jun Kurosawa—almost always bodily in nature, visually striking, and unique.
Finally, inside the cold mine, Play Dead!—a bizarre film starting as the diabetic director’s autobiographical portrait before descending into gore exploring every possible health disaster for a diabetic.
Location info:

One of Lavrio’s largest mines—a labyrinth, though we’ll stay near the entrance. Inside is truly cold for the season—jackets advised. Outside are spectacular (but dangerous) shafts—bring a flashlight! Close to Lavrio and 14 km from Spyridio.

We end with The Flower from the Sea, Miho Nagaya’s poetic portrait of her grandmother, blending memories, emotions, and events.

Surrounded by abandoned hotels and facilities, the church offers a mystical experience. Afterwards, we move to an abandoned hotel 250 meters away for sleep. Sea and the Temple of Poseidon nearby. 17 km from the mine.
DAY FIVE – 24/8 THE GIANT OF ALTHEA
Exact location: Google Maps link
Schedule
20:30 – Neko-mimi by Jun Kurosawa
22:00 – Memoria by Daniele Ciprì & Franco Maresco
22:50 – Static by Mark Romanek
he last night of this five-day pilgrimage will begin with Neko-mimi by Jun Kurosawa. An in limbo bodily experience with nightmarish tendencies and, at the same time, cinema of attraction!
Next, we will watch Memoria by the vitriolic Daniele Ciprì and Franco Maresco. This film is also full of satire. But at the same time, there is no narrative intention whatsoever. The viewer is confronted with the monstrous in a way one could say is akin to Oedipus.
Finally, the last film will be Static by Mark Romanek. Mark Romanek is known for his collaboration on music videos for Madonna, as well as for films that knocked on the door of the Oscars. For many of these reasons, we do not love him. In his youth, however, he made an infinitely silly film—Static! A film I screened for years to my dearest ones to test our friendship!
INFORMATION ABOUT THE LOCATION
https://maps.app.goo.gl/e2fkBugDkRGfjC5S7
The Giant of Althea is located in Althea and is an unrealistically huge building. Abandoned facilities stretching in length, height, width. Certainly one of the largest buildings I have seen in Greece. It is very close to the sea. It has a wonderful view. It offers comfortable shaded sleeping space and is located 27 kilometers from the church of Saint John the Baptist. However, if you find yourself in Palaia Fokaia (14 km), there is a city bus that serves the area. Also, a city bus serves from the Argyroupoli metro station.
