Είναι το τρίτο καλοκαίρι που οι προβολές του Pugnant Film Series λαμβάνουν χώρο σε κατ’ ουσίαν δημόσιους χώρους. Είναι στη φύση και στα αιτήματα αυτών των προβολών η χρήση, η ενεργοποίηση και η άμεση απόλαυση των δημόσιων χώρων. Ελεύθερα. Δυστυχώς, ως πολίτες των μεγαλουπόλεων τα τελευταία χρόνια βιώνουμε τη μεθοδευμένη κατάργηση του δημόσιου χώρου. Χώροι που δεν προορίζονται για κατανάλωση, ή για κάποιο δείνα όφελος κάποιου δείνα δυνάστη, αντιμετωπίζονται με αμηχανία από εξουσίες και πλειοψηφικές κοινότητες. Από αυτή την αμηχανία λοιπόν δε μπορούν να ξεφύγουν ούτε οι προβολές μας, για τις οποίες ποτέ δε μπορώ να εγγυηθώ την ομαλή διεξαγωγή σε αυτά τα πλαίσια. Ούτε τώρα θα μπορέσω.
Παρ’ όλα αυτά σας προσκαλώ να συνεχίσουμε την προβολή του Je flotterai sans envie, του Frank Beauvais. Για τους λάτρεις του προσωπικού κινηματογράφου, αυτή η ταινία με τη μορφή εξομολογητικού ημερολογίου είναι μοναδική στο είδος της. Ενώ επίσης στα “χρωστούμενα” που θα προβληθούν βρίσκεται το Quand nous etions punk του Pascal Rambert, μια από τις πιο ιδιαίτερα ερωτικοσεξουαλικά ηλεκτρισμένες ταινίες που έχω δει ποτέ.
Το τέλος της βραδιάς θα μας βρει με την προβολή του Kommander Kulas, του Khavn de la Cruz, του πλέον αγαπημένου σκηνοθέτη του Pugnant Film Series. Μια ταινία που συντίθεται από επαναλαμβανόμενες σεκάνς, ενός και μόνο μοτίβου, συντεθιμένου από σκηνές τριών ειδών: Εικαστικές συνθέσεις - απλές διηγήσεις -πιάνο στη μέση του πουθενά που φλυαρούν σαχλά/μαγικά τραγουδάκια. Κάποιος εύλογα θα ρωτούσε, είναι αυτό ταινία ή άσκηση; Ναι, αυτή η ταινία μοιάζει πιο πολύ με άσκηση, όπως πολλές τέτοιες που συναντάμε στην πληθυντική φιλμογραφία του Καβν (αξίζει να αναζητήσετε παρομοίως τα Goodbye My Shooting Star και Misericordia: The Last Mystery of Kristo Vampiro). Μια ταινία που χάρις αυτή την ασκητική της προσέγγιση, φτάνει σε ανέλπιστη ειλικρίνεια, και άμεση απλότητα. Άλλωστε, το έργο τέχνης απαλλαγμένο από το κυνήγι του θαυμαστού και του μεγαλειώδους προσεγγίζει ανεμπόδιστα τον εαυτό του.

On 6/8 we will meet in Moschato and the abandoned EVGLO factory (CHIMERES), to resume our previous screening, which had interrupted in the quarries of Korydallos.
It is the third summer that the screenings of Pugnant Film Series take place in essentially public spaces. It is in the principals of these screenings to use, activate and enjoy the public space. Freely. Unfortunately, as citizens of big cities, in recent years we have been experiencing the methodical abolition of public space. Spaces that are not intended for consumption, or for the benefit of capitalism, are treated with embarrassment by authorities and majority communities. Our screenings also treated with the same embarrassment. So, I can never guarantee the smooth conduct in these contexts.
Nevertheless, I invite you to continue the screening of Je flotterai sans envie, by Frank Beauvais. For lovers of personal cinema, this film in the form of a confessional diary is one of a kind. While also in the "debts" that will be shown in Quand nous etions punk by Pascal Rambert, one of the most erotic electric films I've ever seen. The end of the evening will find us a screening of Kommander Kulas, by Khavn de la Cruz, the most beloved director of the Pugnant Film Series. A film composed of repeated sequences, of a single motif, composed of scenes of three kinds: Visual compositions - simple voice over tre general shots - piano in the middle of nowhere chattering shrill/magical songs. One might reasonably ask, is this a movie or an exercise? Yes, this film feels more like an exercise, like many in Khavn's plural filmography (Goodbye My Shooting Star and Misericordia: The Last Mystery of Kristo Vampiro are similarly worth seeking out). A film that, thanks to its ascetic approach, reaches incredible honesty and authentic simplicity. After all, the work of art freed from the pursuit of the marvelous and the sublime approaches itself unhindered.
